A robust tracking control technique for nonlinear time-delay systems based on fuzzy T-S model is developed. Fuzzy T-S model with parametric uncertainties is employed to represent a nonlinear time-delay system of the plant to be controlled. The aim of the control design is to make the tracking error as small as possible for all bounded reference inputs and to guarantee H ∞ performance of the control system. The proposed tracking control design has the advantage that only a simple fuzzy controller is used within an approach without employing feedback linearization and a complicated adaptive scheme. By means of the proposed method, the fuzzy tracking control design problem is parameterized in terms of a linear matrix inequality problem. The linear matrix inequality problem is then solved efficiently by using a convex optimization technique. Simulation example is given to test the validity and efficiency of the proposed method.
