Detection is the first task in establishing a communication link, or tracking a target with a radar system. This is a decision-making problem, and it is performed through a hypothesis-testing procedure. Hypothesis testing is nothing but constant-false-alarm-rate (CFAR) detection. These issues are reviewed, and simple MATLAB (TM) codes are presented.
